Manchester United still have work to do with just days remaining of the transfer window and Kobbie Mainoo's future is under the microscope as the midfielder eyes a move away
There are just three days remaining of the transfer window and Manchester United's work is not done. Some might suggest the club need to be industrious over the weekend following their embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby.
The Red Devils have already acquired a new frontline in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko but still have deals to do to satisfy Ruben Amorim's needs. A central midfielder has been among the club's priorities and they were priced out of a deal for Brighton's Carlos Baleba.
The start to United's season has seen a series of errors in goal from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. Both players have seen their positions speculated upon but remain at the club despite the 13-times Premier League champions being linked to figures such as Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
United want to secure some exits too. Marcus Rashford has been loaned to Barcelona but new clubs are still needed for Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.
Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours at Old Trafford.
Mainoo stance
Kobbie Mainoo is pushing for a permanent move to Napoli with the midfielder at the centre of a £50million tug of war between the Italian champions and Manchester United. Antonio Conte's side have a four-year contract waiting for the 20-year-old midfielder and and Mainoo has told Red Devils chiefs he wants to go to Serie A.
United have so far blocked the move but Mainoo is adamant that he wants to leave before Monday's transfer deadline. A loan spell had initially been expected but the England international is eyeing a more definite exit.
Mainoo believes Conte could have offer a boost to his footballing career, as he did with Scott McTominay.
Exits
Manchester United expect at least three players to depart Old Trafford in the remaining days of the transfer window. The club have agreed a £40m deal with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho and are at an advanced stage for two more moves.
United have inserted a 10 per cent sell-on clause into the deal made for Garnacho, and the Argentina international becomes the club's fourth-most expensive departure. Loan deals for Rasmus Hojlund, to Napoli, and Antony, to Real Betis, appear set to get over the line, per Manchester Evening News.
There is said to be greater work to do facilitate Jadon Sancho's sale. Roma remain interested in the winger however.
United's reasons against Mainoo move
Manchester United have no plans to green light a loan for Kobbie Mainoo. The club maintain that they value the young midfielder despite his lack of playing time.
Mainoo has yet to play a Premier League minute this term and has ambitions of making the England's World Cup squad next summer. United want to see the player fight for his place however despite struggling to break into Ruben Amorim's plans.

Hojlund stay strong fight for his place, never said he wanted to leave n this has creates a good feelings among him n the fans whenever he is back to United but Maino proven arrogant insists he wanted to leave when the club is going through a traumatic period, Maino would have just stay out n fight for his place n I think he should leave if he wanted to leave.

Mainoo as much as I love him I want him to leave united because he’s too proud and the people around him are his number one problem, how can you as an academy product after one successful season start asking for a pay rise up to the tune of £180-200k a week? this is foolishness from his end because nobody in his right mind will give that, pay rise is gradual and not automatic,so he’s been looking for a way to get out of United,United is trying to right all their wrongs made in the past because of such pay rise given to players in this kind of situations in the past ,Mainoo is a talent no doubt but he shouldn’t be bigger than his coaches or club, this is a new season he only didn’t feature in two matches and there’s no way any right thinking coach can bench Bruno or casimero for Mainoo, this boy should be patient and trust his coach, didn’t he play against grimsby what difference did he make, anyone who cares should go and check out his stats in that match, see talent is good but character and wisdom will help you go farther,Casimero has all the talent, experience for that midfield, the problem is his age and strength can’t cope anymore,Mainoo is still coming up and expect the coach to just bench casimero for Mainoo,Mainoo is a spoilt brat,no good coach gambles with his first ten matches in the season Amorim just needed that 30 points first before anything,if Mainoo really wanted to stay at United this his transfer request should be done in January window and not now.

I will agree with former man United legend wayne Rooney who posted that, If Robin Amorim is not getting good results, he'll face Axe. Selling prolific players and leaving flops struggling to score goals, that's nonsense.

Play 4231 to accommodate Maino and Bruno but this stubborn and adamant coach will not adhere to advice. Your system is not working from day one so just change it.

I believe that Martinez, Mainoo, and Bruno would make a strong midfield.

Given the current Manchester United squad, I believe I could potentially coach them to a league victory. In my opinion, Amorim may not be the most exceptional coach. Regarding the midfield issues, I would consider playing Martinez as a defensive midfielder, Mainoo as a central midfielder, and Bruno or Zerkz as an attacking midfielder, which I believe would resolve the remaining issues. Furthermore, it is crucial to ensure that Mainoo remains with the team.

If you are Mainoo, and you see Urgarte play while you don't, it is simple, leave the club. Urgarte and Onana have caused United more goals than the team has scored themselves. Urgarte is so bad. Put a little pressure on him, he is out of the way. This coach cannot see what others see. Any player that leaves Man United must succeed elsewhere. An example is that the club lacks a lot to succeed now. Mainoo, is stronger and can make good decisions than Urgarte, yet the clueless coach would prefer to play Urgarte and keep Mainoo on the bench! Hodjlund is not the problem, if you don't play to your striker, you won't score

no you shut up...what do you know about tactics huh...from the time amorim joined man u,tactically has he done better? No because by now it would have been showing...Thomas frank has only been with Tottenham less than 3months but you can tell that he's a tactician
Blah blah. Amorim has a way of playing, but it needs a specific skillset. He needs a good keeper who can dominate his area and he needs a guy like Baleba with the athleticism and ball playing ability who can beat a press. Then the system works, and if he can also get a box to box player at 8, Bruno can be a 10. What do you have?
