Manchester United youngster Toby Collyer played a heroic role in the win over Fulham with a late goal line clearance.

Ruben Amorim's side returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a much-needed 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage.

Lisandro Martinez's deflected strike inthe 78th minute proved to be the difference in west London - but the match could have ended differently.

Collyer, who replaced Manuel Ugarte moments earlier, was instrumental as he cleared Joachim Andersen's header off the line with two minutes remaining of normal time.

The 21-year-old midfielder was immediately congratulated by team-mates Martinez, Leny Yoro, Martinez and Harry Maguire, who all knew the significance of the clearance.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Collyer said: 'I remember clearing it and thinking it went over. But luckily it hadn't. The most important is we did it as a team together.'

Match winner Martinez heaped praise on the midfielder, saying:  'I think I was lucky, but an important win.

'I am happy with the way we won the game. It doesn't matter who scores - the most important is the three points.

'I am so happy because of this guy [Toby Collyer]. This guy is a big example for the young generation. He is working so hard everyday and he is so humble.

'It means a lot. Not only to the fans, but for us because we have suffered a lot.

'It is a hard win, this club the pressure is hard, but we are here. We know how difficult it is. Even a game like today we have to win and be humble after winning.'

The win over Fulham has moved United above Crystal Palace and into 12th in the Premier League table.
