Man Utd's private jet blocked by Man City's plane ahead of Southampton trip

Manchester United boarded a private jet on Friday afternoon as they prepared to head south for this weekend's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Jose Mourinho and his United players were pictured climbing aboard their regular vessel at Manchester airport on the eve of Saturday's 3pm meeting at St Mary's.

But before Mourinho and Co could take off they had to wait for a plane owned by local rivals City to move out of their way.

The flight time between Manchester and Southampton is just under an hour.

Mourinho will hope that his players arrive fresh and without fatigue following Tuesday's 1-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League.

Games between United and Southampton have produced very few goals in recent years. In the last five Premier League meetings there have been two 0-0 draws, a 1-0 win apiece and 2-0 triumph for United.

United will start Saturday's match as clear favourites as the Saints are in dreadful form, having not won since September 1 — a run which spans 11 games in all competitions.
