Man Utd's transfer business slammed after woeful start - 'It doesn't look great'

Louis Saha is worried by Manchester United’s expensive flops - and he reckons they don’t have any world-class attackers.

In a damning indictment of the Red Devils’ transfer strategy, the former United and France striker says it’s alarming how bad things are. Currently marooned in 14th in one of their worst starts to a season for decades, Erik ten Hag is under massive pressure yet again. They forked out £36.5m for Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee in the summer but he’s already being tipped for a move away.

He was most recently on the bench along with £85m Brazilian misfit winger Antony and another summer signing, the £42.9m defender Matthijs de Light. Denmark striker Rasmus Højlund has also struggled for form in a United side who have scored just FIVE goals in seven Premier League matches, garnering only two wins.

Saha said: “When you look at the situation with Manchester United not starting their expensive players, it doesn’t look great.

“But at the time, these players will score goals and have great performances, and no-one will challenge that. The number of games where they have not delivered is concerning, but the players are good.

"Around them, Manchester United just need one world-class player – whether that’s up top or in midfield - and I don’t see that."

In an interview with Paddy Power, Saha continued: "These players are in a bracket where they have lots of potential but are not the finished product yet. We know that Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee can potentially score 25 goals in a season, they haven't done it yet, they’re still learning.

"They have plenty of talent but should be developing their skills playing with Ruud van Nistlerooy rather than just being coached by him.”
