Manchester City are undertaking feasibility studies on further expanding the Etihad Stadium to over 60,000.
City have plans in place to develop the North Stand and are exploring the possibility of building an on-site hotel.
As part of the project, the Premier League champions are also working towards increasing the size of their fan zone for supporters, with a new club shop and a museum also mooted.
City said the feasibility studies, which invite local residents to offer thoughts on the plans, is to ‘develop a best-in-class fan experience and a year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad’.
Should they press ahead, City’s stadium could become the second largest in the country behind Old Trafford.
The current capacity is 53,500 and extending the North Stand by adding a third tier would take them around the same levels as Tottenham and West Ham United.
A new music venue is currently being built next to the stadium and is expected to be completed next year.
‘The feasibility studies consider several connected elements, central to which is an expanded North Stand, which could increase capacity of the Etihad Stadium to over 60,000,’ City said.
’Alongside this, the study is assessing the feasibility of an expanded and covered ‘City Square’ fan zone with food and drink outlets, a new club shop and museum, workspace and an onsite hotel.
’Identifying opportunities to introduce new entertainment experiences - both on matchday and non-matchday - is a key component of the study, building on the club’s ongoing commitment to invest in and develop its facilities for the benefit of its fans and visitors.
‘Fans and the community are welcome to share any initial views, including what they would like to see at the Etihad Stadium in the future, or any matters they would like the club to address, in advance of formal consultations in early 2023.’

But it is always empty
That's what dull brains say to make themselves feel better about the trophy less club they support 😂😂😂 No club fills their stadium regularly not even Barca and Madrid. But so you know City %stadium fill is up there with the best in England like Liverpool, Arsenal.

What is the purpose of the expansion of the stadium when you can't fill the current one with supporters.
