Manchester City are preparing a professional contract for Norwegian teenager Oscar Bobb.
The 15-year-old midfielder from Valerenga is poised to sign a deal in July when he turns 16, pending a medical.
Technically very good, Bobb first shot to prominence at Lyn Oslo as an 11-year old before moving to Portugal to play for Porto.
However, when that transfer was blocked under FIFA rules, he returned to Norway with Valerenga and has continued to impress foreign scouts with City initially opening talks to sign the 15-year-old last year.
City are also closing in on the club transfer record to sign Rodri Hernandez, the jewel in Pep Guardiola's summer recruitment plan.
It has long been known that Rodri, the 22-year-old midfielder, has been Guardiola's top priority and he has paved the way for a switch to Manchester after telling Atletico Madrid officials that he wants to leave.

As a kid i think it's better to start playing in a small Club, try to make a name for yourself and when you are old enough other big teams would be fighting for you signature, not signing for a big team when you are still very young, because most big teams like to loan, loan and loan young player, a piece of advice. No offence, it's just an opinion

Agreed, but i don't think they're necessarily losing years of their career. If you go to Manchester for example as a 15 y/o then realistically you have 5-6 years there to break the first team & if not you're generally assured of a good move due to developing at a top club.

But there is brilliant academies across many leagues in many countries. Invariably, these players will not make it, and will end up having to start elsewhere, usually losing 2-3 years of their short career

Never quite understand why kids choose this path. The odds are so completely stacked against them. The sooner the rules around stockpiling youth players change the better.

Pros & cons. I've been to City's academy before and it's an amazing place, training with the best youth coaches and players in the world in amazing facilities is a huge benefit but of course the path to first team is longer

Bobb is described as a ‘super-talent’ and renowned talent-spotters FC Porto were previously denied the chance to sign him by FIFA under unknown circumstances.

Lots of U'16 talent in Norway moving abroad soon it seems. Oscar Bobb is off to Manchester City & Isak Hansen-Aaroen is off to Manchester United. Isak Midttun Solberg to Spurs, too.

We haven't even signed Rodri and Txiki has signed his successor for the 2029/2030 season.🤣
