Manchester City's team bus windscreen is cracked by a missile after Liverpool defeat

Manchester City alleged that their team bus was damaged by a missile on leaving Merseyside after Sunday’s unsavoury defeat at Liverpool.

Players and staff heard a crack in the glass as the coach passed down Anfield Road following a day that saw Pep Guardiola claim he had coins thrown at him and away supporters were heard singing vile chants.

City are likely to raise their concerns surrounding the coach with the Football Association, who now have a list of incidents from Sunday to study.

The Premier League champions were left incensed that Guardiola was targeted by coins in the aftermath of Phil Foden’s disallowed goal after a VAR check.

City’s backroom staff had alleged during last season’s encounter that they were spat at by supporters sat behind the dugout.

Liverpool have vowed to study CCTV footage and will issue lifetime bans to any supporter found to have thrown coins at the City boss.

Sunday night was the third time a City vehicle has suffered damage around Anfield, with the high-profile incident in 2018 ahead of a Champions League clash and when staff saw ‘bottles and stones’ thrown at their coach after a defeat in April 2014.

‘Next time they will do it better,’ Guardiola said when asked about coin throwing.

‘They didn't get me. They tried but didn't get me. They got it on the coach years ago but not this time.’
