Casemiro has demanded more from Manchester United after he reflected on his first season at Old Trafford in a message on social media.

The Brazilian who had become accustomed to winning trophies at Real Madrid, joined the Red Devils in a £70m deal last summer.

His first season at the club saw Erik ten Hag's side lift just the Carabao Cup, after finishing third in the Premier League, and lose 2-1 to local rivals Man City in Saturday's FA Cup final.

In a post on Instagram, Casemiro has thanked the club's fans for the support they have shown this season, but insisted that he expects more from his side in the 2023-24 campaign.

He wrote: 'Thank you all for this first great season and above all for your love towards my family and towards me.

'I feel at home. I read you and I hear everyone say that Manchester United is back, but this is only the beginning of our journey.

'The greatness of this club and this shield must force us to demand more of ourselves. Much more.

'Here defeat is not acceptable and the glory days must return. For that I have come. Come on United!!'

United showed great signs of progress under Erik ten Hag this season, following a disappointing year prior where they finished sixth in the league.

The Red Devils are expected to spend big as they look forward to a return to the Champions League next season.

England internationals Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Declan Rice have all been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford.

Casemiro played a huge part in United's improvement this season, adding some defensive solidity in the middle of the park which had been lacking in years prior.

The 31-year-old made 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven times and registering just as many assists in his maiden campaign in England's top flight.
