Manchester United fans were left questioning midfielder Fred's future at the club after he was left on the bench amid an injury crisis during their match against Liverpool.
With Nemanja Matic ruled out before the match, boss Ole Gunnar SOlskjaer opted for Scott McTominay in a defensive midfield role with Fred named among the substitutes.
The 25-year-old was then left on the bench despite injuries to Anders Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard during the first half, with youth team graduate Andreas Pereira brought on instead.
Alexis Sanchez was then brought on in place of Lingard, who lasted only 18 minutes after himself replacing Mata.
The decision to ignore the £52million summer signing - the fourth-most expensive transfer in Manchester United's history - perplexed many of the clubs fans.
One even question whether the Brazilian still played for the club, having made such minimal impact since joining in the summer.
Another was certain that this indicated the Brazil international had no long-term future at Old Trafford, believing he was only signed to trump near neighbours Manchester City.
There were also questions asked over why a half-fit Lingard was brought on ahead of Fred.
Fred has struggled for game time under Solskjaer and his predecessor Jose Mourinho, making only 15 appearances in all competitions this season.

Solskjaer explained that Fred need time to adapt to Utd pattern of play , mind you he struggled to make impact during Mourinho time too, Ole admitted Fred is a talented player , but finding it difficult to adjust to Utd's way of play , he will get into the fray when Ole is convinced he's ready . Fred, the £52.7m signing is patient enough till he gets the nod from Solskjaer .

To be honest I haven't lost hope on Fred because his situation is exactly like Lindelof. He had a terrible first season but now he's settled in . It could be the same for him he could be a gem for next season so let's not lose hope GGMU

Hey OGS still delivered in a time of crisis. That’s a disappointing game for Liverpool they easily could have gotten us while we were panicking...

I'm surprised that some fanz are opposed to Ole's decision nt to use Fred who loses possession easily. u can't expect a right-minded manager to play Fred except no other alternative against the likes of Liverpool whose players are always hungry and thirsty for goals and they are are ready to take advantage of their opponent's error to harm them.
