Manchester United 'make official offer' for Barcelona star Memphis Depay and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly submitted their first official bid for Barcelona striker Memphis Depay as they look to recruit a striker in the new year.

According to journalist Adrian Sanchez, the Reds are interested in re-signing the Dutchman - five years after selling him to Lyon following his underwhelming spell at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old registered seven goals and six assists in 53 appearances for the Reds, featuring on just eight occasions after Jose Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal.

Depay is said to be keen on a move away from Barcelona after falling down the pecking order under Xavi, with the Dutchman highly unlikely to sign a contract extension at the Camp Nou. He is out of contract at the end of the current season, but a transfer could be on the cards in January.

The Netherlands international has made just three appearances for the Catalan outfit this campaign, but he was still Barcelona's top goalscorer last term, netting 13 goals in 31 games.

Elsewhere, Record are reporting that Brighton have made contact with United transfer target Goncalo Ramos, with the report claiming that the Portuguese club have placed a a €40million price tag on the attacker

The 21-year-old, who has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this term, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months, with 90min previously claiming that Erik ten Hag wants to bring the Benfica star to the club.

Record suggest that the Seagulls have made contact with Benfica, but are said to deem the current asking price to be too expensive - with Newcastle United also thought to be keen on the player.

Ramos is expected to feature for Portugal at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar after being included in Fernando Santos' squad for the tournament.
