Manchester United offer Cristiano Ronaldo on free transfer and more rumours

Manchester United have reportedly not received any interest in Cristiano Ronaldo, despite making the striker available on a free transfer since the summer.

As reported by ESPN, United have been open to letting the 37-year-old leave Old Trafford since he expressed his desire to leave the club earlier in the summer. The report adds that United have not asked for a fee for Ronaldo as they were hoping another side would be willing to take on his £500,000-a-week contract.

However, the club have not received any offers for the Portuguese frontman, aside from interest from Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal. It is said that United are hoping to generate interest in the player if he enjoys a successful World Cup campaign with Portugal.

There is also a chance that Ronaldo, who is out of contract at the end of the current season, could be loaned out in January, should another club offer to pay a proportion of his wages.

Elsewhere, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has reported that United are interested in a move for Bayern Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong as they look to strengthen their defence.

The report states that Erik ten Hag is wanting to add a 'high-quality right-back' to his ranks in the January transfer window, despite the impressive form of Diogo Dalot so far this season.

Frimpong has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign, with the 21-year-old registering four goals and two assists.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka seemingly surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, Ten Hag could look to make a move for another defender in the upcoming transfer window in order to provide cover for Dalot.
