Alexis Sanchez could leave Manchester United on loan, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly of the opinion that the Chilean forward's future lies elsewhere.

Sanchez has struggled since swapping Arsenal for rivals United in a deal that landed him £350,000 a week over a four-and-a-half years - rising to £450,000 when his image rights are added in, and £600,000 including bonuses.

He has scored just five goals in 41 appearances for the Old Trafford club who, according to The Sun, are ready to make him available for loan.

It's reported United know they will struggle to sell such a high-earner and hope a loan deal will be more attractive to clubs.

Despite Sunday's defeat by Arsenal, Manchester United have shone since Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho.

The Norwegian former striker is set to take over permanently and The Sun claim Sanchez does not feature in his plans.

The 30-year-old missed United's defeat by his former club with injury. He has been out of action after sustaining a serious knee injury against Southampton.

Sanchez fears he could miss up to two months with knee ligament damage suffered on March 2. He has spent time recovering in Catalonia, where he was spotted at the Nou Camp watching Barcelona beat Ray Vallecano 3-1 on Saturday.
