The summer transfer window opened last month and Man Utd have caused ripples with the manner of some business.
Manchester United are ruffling feathers by offering the sales of academy players this summer as they adopt a new transfer approach.
The Manchester Evening News understands United have compiled a list of academy players (all above 18 years old) who they are willing to let go this summer and have offered their names to other clubs.
Those clubs have been surprised at some of the names offered up because United, in some of the instances, have previously paid sizeable transfer fees to sign those players to their academy.
The news has also come as a shock to some families and representatives, who claim they haven't been consulted.
United have strongly insisted they have always consulted the players themselves on the matter.
The MEN have been told United have been willing to sell the aforementioned players essentially for free - some with nominal transfer fees - but with the caveat of high sell-on clauses being included in the deals.
United have said it is fairly standard practice for clubs to make decisions about players' futures when they are 18 years old, and the players are within their rights to turn down moves.
The club has also said the reality of Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) means there is a renewed approach to getting fees for players who they don't believe will play for the first-team.
The MEN understands significant changes are taking place at the academy, and some observers feel the desire to cut costs around the club has influenced academy decisions.

THE ONLY TEAM WHICH IS MORE PESSIMISTIC IN ENGLAND EPL NEXT SEASON IS "MAN UNITED". BECAUSE MAN U IS THE ONLY TEAM WHICH IS SELLING PLAYERS WHO ARE MORE QUALITATIVE THAN THE NEW SIGNINGS, WITH THE LIKES OF: RASHFORD, SANCHO, ANTONY AND GRANACHO. THEY ALSO SELL THEIR PLAYERS VERY CHEAP, AND BUY LESS QUALITY PLAYERS TOO COST. I REALLY PITY MY NEARBOUS FOR INCOMING SEASON!!
