Ewan Sharp sat alongside Ralf Rangnick in the back of the car as Manchester United's latest coaching hire arrived at Carrington for his first day in the job on Wednesday.
United confirmed Sharp, a performance analyst, as Rangnick's third coaching appointment since taking over as interim manager.
Sharp, who has followed Rangnick to Old Trafford from Lokomotiv Moscow having previously worked under the German at RB Leipzig and New York Red Bulls, wasted no time in getting down to work as he got a look around Carrington on Wednesday.
First-team training resumed at Carrington on Tuesday following its closure for Cristiano Ronaldo following a major Covid outbreak which saw last week's midweek game against Brentford postponed.
There is to be a staggered return for first team players with United having been sidelined after games with Brentford and Brighton were forced to be postponed.
On Tuesday Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Mason Greenwood, Luke Shaw, David De Gea and Fred were among the players driving in to report for duty.
On Wednesday Cristiano Ronaldo, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay were among those captured driving through the Carrington gates.
But it is Sharp who is the new man on the block and he will have his work cut out to hit the ground running with United due to be back in action at St James' Park in Newcastle on Monday.
Rangnick has already recruited from the Red Bull stable of clubs by bringing in first-team coach Chris Armas and sports psychologist Sascha Lense and Sharp is his third move.
Sharp, who only joined Lokomotiv Moscow last month, has also worked with Armas at New York and Toronto FC.
The Scotsman's arrival is the latest in a number of changes to United's coaching set-up since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked last month.
Both of Solskjaer's first-team coaches, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna, have since left the club.
Attention will now turn to Newcastle and Rangnick is set to speak at his pre-match press conference on Thursday after a difficult few days.
United have been left with games in hand in the top four race but it isn't entirely clear when these will be rescheduled given their Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League commitments in the new year.
After the trip to Tyneside, United host Burnley on December 30 and Wolves on January 3.
This week the Premier League pledged to plough on with the festive fixture list despite several clubs being affected as the Omicron Covid variant takes hold in England.
A record 90 positive tests were returned by Premier League players and staff last week.
An emergency meeting of the 20 clubs was called on Monday after six games were postponed over the weekend.
The decision was made to push on with the two round of games spread over five days from December 26. One option had been to postpone game week 20, starting on December 28, but this was rejected.
The Premier League advised clubs that if they had 13 fit players, plus a goalkeeper, they should fulfil their fixtures. Under-23 players with suitable first-team experience can be used.
