Sadio Mane left the president of Senegal hanging after snubbing a handshake during a medal ceremony following their African Cup of Nations success.

The Liverpool star scored the winning penalty on Sunday as Senegal beat Egypt to win the tournament for the first time.

During a ceremony to congratulate Mane and his team-mates in Senegal, president Macky Sall handed the 29-year-old a medal with a massive crowd of supporters watching on.

Mane then turned away just as Sall offered a congratulatory handshake, to celebrate with the crowd.

The forward instead took the opportunity to copy a celebration most commonly used by club team-mate Roberto Firmino.

Fans have reacted to the footage on social media, with SamuelLFC tweeting: 'The best part is that he snubbed the handshake just to copy Bobby's celebration.'

One user commented: 'Nah he didn't just do that,' while another posted: 'LMAO WHAT A GOAT.'

Another Liverpool posted emojis of crying faces with the post: ' Lmao man left the president hanging.'

The AFCON success has prompted wild celebrations across the nation, with Mane very much the face of their success after emphatically scoring the crucial penalty to seal the victory.

Mane is known for imitating his team-mate's celebrations with the creative Firmino often the source of his inspiration.

The pair have often joked about it with one famous example coming with Mane's brace against Chelsea in their UEFA Super Cup triumph back in 2019.

Firmino replied to an Instagram post by Mane: 'Sadii don't copy me please.'

Mane jokingly responded: 'Huh? It's different to yours Bobby! This going to be my new celebration for the season. Don't already discourage me.'
