Manolo Gabbiadini is poised to join Sampdoria from Southampton in a permanent deal worth £11.7million.
Gabbiadini is expected to travel to his native Italy on Thursday in order to complete the transfer back to one of his former clubs.
He has been frozen out since Ralph Hasenhuttl replaced Mark Hughes as manager of the Saints.
Gabbiadini, 27, was signed from Napoli for £14m two years ago and made a prolific start to his career in the Premier League.
He will leave St Mary's having managed 12 goals in 55 games - including just one in 10 games this season.
The 11-cap Italy international signed for Sampdoria in 2013, registering 19 goals in 55 appearances before leaving for Napoli two years later.
