Marcel Sabitzer is keeping an open mind about his future after scoring his first goal for Manchester United on loan from Bayern Munich.
The Austria midfielder was brought in as an emergency signing on deadline day in January after Christian Eriksen joined Donny van de Beek on the sidelines with a long-term injury.
Sabitzer has proved to be an even more important addition because Casemiro has been banned on three occasions since then, with the Brazilian’s current four-match suspension extending his absence to eight games.
Sabitzer replaced Casemiro in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham, and scored the second goal as United came from behind to win 3-1 after their opponents had manager Marco Silva and two players – Willian and Aleksandar Mitrovic – sent off.
The 29-year-old is due to return to Bayern when his loan expires at the end of the season, but he responded to questions about his future by saying: ‘Whatever happens in the summer, we will see.
‘I had to make a quick decision in January. I was focused on this, it was clear it is just a loan until the summer. I take every game as it comes. I’m very happy to be here. I will give 100 per cent.
‘I am very happy to be part of this team, this amazing club, and I feel very welcomed. I am very happy at the moment.
‘I can play all over midfield, I think. I like to do the dirty work. I like to run, to go forward, box-to-box movements. A lot of transitions and high-intensity games are what I am having here.’
Fulham were leading with 20 minutes left when Willian conceded a penalty by handling Jadon Sancho’s shot, and Silva and Mitrovic were sent off for protesting to referee Chris Kavanagh.
Sabitzer added: ‘I was hoping for the handball and the penalty, then I heard there was a second red card. A crazy five or six minutes, but it was good for us.
‘We were 1-0 down, we scored the penalty, we wanted to come back and we did it. That is the most important thing.
‘It was a massive one win. We’re very happy, but it was a hard game. Fulham are a tough opponent, a good team, and we are very happy with the result.’
Sabitzer scored when he flicked the ball home from Luke Shaw’s cross before Bruno Fernandes fired his second goal of the game to clinch a semi-final date with Brighton at Wembley next month.
‘I was just hoping Luke would play me this ball,’ said Sabitzer. ‘I tried to hit it with my left one, and I am very proud. It was a happy moment.
‘First of all we have to take Brighton. They are a tough opponent, a good team. At Wembley, we can expect a lot. We are prepared for it, we are excited, and we want to go to the final.’

You have MUDRYK yet you have the guts to Taunt ANTONY. You have AUBAMAYANG yet you have the guts to Taunt DARWIN NŪÑEZ. You have Doctor PULISIC yet you have the guts to Taunt SANCHO. You have GALLAGHER AKA LARRY GAGA yet you have the guts to Taunt FRED. Meanwhile, do you know that All CHELSEA new signings has 12 G/A in all Competition this season the same with CASEMIRO???. Note that CHELSEA sign 16 Players this season but all those New signings are yet to have 16 GOAL difference 😂. ⛳ POTTER don't need PLAYERS...the only thing he need is PRAYERS. CHELSEA New signings are Unsuccessful....As it stands the only Successful transfer CHELSEA can do next season is to transfer Aggression on LUKAKU 😂😂😂.

I think he's a good player. but not a world class for 1st choice. he is slow , not strong, or has no stamina. only good is his passing when it can be good. that's all. we already have this and can have better creatively player .2nd choice would be okay

I really like Sabitzer but the coach never gave him enough playing time. maybe he is not in his plan so might go back to Bayern after the loan spell. He is an upgrade to Fred and Mctominay in that midfield cos of his passing ability and composure with the ball
