Maresca seeks deeper squad depth, eyes Bouaddi

On June 30th — According to The Athletic's report today, Enzo Maresca wants to build a more complete squad than the one Pep Guardiola previously worked with.

Maresca is looking to expand beyond Manchester City's traditional focus on three key positions: right-back, central midfield, and winger. Recent player departures have increased the need for additional reinforcements across the squad.

Contract extensions for Gvardiol, Doku, and Foden are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Manchester City is monitoring and admires Ayoub Bouaddi, though they are still evaluating the best approach for any potential move.

Manchester City remains keen on Chelsea's Gusto but views Chelsea's £75 million valuation as prohibitive. Without significant shifts in circumstances, City will likely pursue alternative targets, though options remain limited.

City also seeks a creative winger capable of dribbling and playmaking, plus an additional midfielder alongside Anderson. While Sandro Tonali has caught their attention, Tottenham's offer for him is a complicating factor. This has boosted City's interest in Bouaddi as an alternative option.
