Mark Hughes deemed it 'predictable' to hear his own supporters singing about his precarious position after the Southampton manager moved a step closer to the sack.
The Saints took the lead through Stuart Armstrong but went on to lose 3-2 at Craven Cottage.
Chants could be heard coming from the visitors about Hughes, including singing about him being sacked in the morning and that he did not know what he was doing.
Asked about the dissent from his own fans afterwards, Hughes said: 'It's all quite predictable. It is what it is. I don't think anybody was surprised by it.
'Everybody is frustrated because our fans come see us play and they've witnessed similar games in the past where we've done OK and their frustration is us not getting the result over the line.'
Southampton chiefs believe they were mistaken in waiting so long to sack Hughes' predecessor Mauricio Pellegrino last season.
Hughes is now under intense pressure and continued: 'There are always questions, there is always noise, there is always an opportunity for people to question your position or your work.
'It doesn't faze me. I've gone through these periods before. It is what it is. You just get on with it.'

He's been abject for years , boasting he's never been relegated when he's always got the push a few months before when desperate owners take the last throw of the dice .

Southampton are lucky to be in the Premier league. They are a feeder club for Liverpool, sell all their home grown talent. Will never get a top manager with that philosophy. Feel sorry for their supporters.

Like Allardyce and Pardew, Hughes has no place in the PL. He deserves the sack and So'ton need to do it now.

Under Hughes Saints have 8 points from 13 games. Last season under Pellegrino they had 16 points from 13 games. Hughes has to go.

Prolofic failure with two payouts in 12 months if he is sacked. One day someone will hold this guy to account before he destroys another club.

There are 9 or10 managers the same as mark Hughes in the premier league, they all just do the same, sign a 3 or 4 year contract with a club, get sacked after 6 or 12 months, get paid up and move to the next club.

It's embarrassing how awful he is. Excellent player, crappy manager.

He says he's not fazed he's been through this before? Great way to entice future employers after he's sacked by the Saints. Put that on your CV and watch the offers flood in!

How this guy gets PL jobs is beyond me... him and his two trusty sidekicks must have serious dirt on certain club chairman... Saints deserve way better than this consistent failure

To be the architect of two relegations in two seasons would be quite an achievement!

Yes it's predictable because he is a very poor manager who does not belong managing a Premiership team.

His time is up. Found out as a manager now - quite frankly it's getting a bit embarrassing

The only thing predictable is Mark Hughes team selection and his post match interviews blaming everyone else without accepting any of the blame, every week at every club he has managed, it was probably Betty the tea lady's fault today, used the wrong teabags. If he isn't sacked by Monday I will be amazed, southampton deserve relegation if they keep giving Hughes one more game, he is a train reck of a manager,

Every year he is in this position. And every year some foolish club employs him. Baffling.
