AFC Wimbledon has sacked struggling manager Mark Robinson after a dire 21-game winless run.

Robinson was initially given the job on an interim basis in January last year after Glyn Hodges' departure, but was installed as permanent boss a month later after an impressive start.

However, results have tailed off and the club have parted company with him - announcing the decision in a curt 48-word statement.

The statement said: 'Head Coach Mark Robinson has today parted company with AFC Wimbledon by mutual consent.

'The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Mark for all his hard work, loyalty and commitment whilst in this role.

'There will be no further statement for the time being.'

Former Fulham youth player Robinson ends with a win ratio of just 25 per cent, with 17 wins, 23 draws and 28 losses from his 68 games in charge.

The Dons currently lie 21st in the third tier, languishing in the relegation zone, although they are a point off safety.

Next up, the managerless side face promotion-chasing Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton on Saturday and Tuesday respectively, hoping to put a run of five successive losses behind them.
