Marquinhos: I don't know what Mbappe meant, but PSG are more important

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has admitted to being left puzzled by Kylian Mbappe's recent cryptic comments.

The forward had hinted that he was considering an exit this summer, suggesting he may be open to a new challenge elsewhere, but the Brazilian says that the rest of the dressing room have been caught off guard.

"I don't know what he meant," Marquinhos said of Mbappe's comments.

"I suppose he's spoken to the club's management and the coach, but he hasn't spoken to the squad.

"It's been a difficult season so you'll have to ask him what he really means.

"He's one of our most important players, he's very young but he's strong mentally and he's responsibly for what he says and does.

"But PSG come first. PSG are more important than all of the players who wear the shirt. Players can leave, but the club will always be there."
