Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is set to be offered a bumper new contract after Mikel Arteta secured the futures of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba earlier this year
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has provided an update on his ongoing contract talks with the club. The Gunners skipper is set to be the latest star player to commit their futures to Mikel Arteta's side after Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba extended their stays this year.
The 24-year-old proved to be the talisman of Arsenal’s midfield as Mikel Arteta’s side mounted a surprise title challenge last season - and has started the 2023/24 campaign in impressive form. After being named the club’s new captain ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, Odegaard repaid his manager’s faith by scoring 15 goals and registering eight assists as the Gunners battled Manchester City for top spot.
Speaking earlier this month, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano offered an update on how talks are progressing between the Gunners and Odegaard. Speaking to Caughtoffside, Romano said: “Odegaard is in love with Arsenal, and Arsenal are in love with Odegaard, so the feeling is mutual that they will continue together for a long time.
“Odegaard is club captain, and an important player on and off the pitch. Arsenal are now planning to continue contract negotiations with Odegaard in the next weeks and months, in order to get a new deal done, following the fine work they did to tie down other star players such as Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Aaron Ramsdale and Reiss Nelson in recent months.”
Speaking to Nettavisen, Odegaard said: “I don’t have much to say, apart from the fact that I am very happy at Arsenal. I hope I can be there for a long time.
"Beyond that, I have no comment right now. Now, it is the national team that is in focus.”

...He failed in Real Madrid. The main reason we was sold to a club where there isn't as much expectation from him with all due respect to Arsenal then.
Now that Arsenal is in the Champions League where the true quality of a team is tested. I hope He proves Real Madrid wrong.

point of correction He didn't fail at Madrid but Madrid failed him , why because, they didn't give him a chance and trust,he was always out on loan even if he performed so well on loan , they never took notice

I am still wondering what happened to him in Real Madrid. It either the jersey was too big for him in RM or he learned from the failure and improved on it in Arsenal.
