Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is expected to be on the move this summer and the Red Devils stand to benefit from a sell-on clause included when they sold him
Manchester United are set to cash in as Mason Greenwood eyes his next club amid a looming exit from Marseille this summer. The striker looks set to depart France for Roma after the club failed to secure Champions League qualification.
Greenwood has enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 1 and produced 26 goals and 11 assists across all competitions in 2025/26, drawing enquiries from Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. But Roma appear to lead the pack, having made contact with the player's father, with Greenwood interested in the project according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The sharpshooter is set to bring an end to his stay in France after Les Phoceens failed to qualify for Europe's top competition. Greenwood first completed a £26.6million move from Old Trafford in 2024 after United decided he could not remain.
The academy product was suspended by United when he was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour in 2022. The 24-year-old denied the charges, which were subsequently dropped, but found himself outside of the Red Devils' plans and joined Marseille following a season on loan at Getafe.
United are believed to have included a sell-on clause in the deal that sees them bring in up to 50 per cent of a transfer fee for Greenwood. Marseille are said to want £43m for the striker's services, and he remains under contract until 2029.
Marseille are under pressure to sell after failing to qualify for the Champions League. The French side are described as having a 'precarious financial situation' and require numerous sales before June 30th to prove their compliance to France's financial watchdog.
Reports in Turkey claim that Fenerbahce presidential candidate Hakan Safi is ready to announce the signing of Greenwood as he looks to transform the club's fortunes. Roma will hope their relationship with Marseille gives them an advantage.
Greenwood has previously expressed his desire to remain at the Stade Vélodrome, though Marseille's financial situation may make that difficult. Speaking after being named in Ligue 1's team of the season, the forward conceded it had been a difficult time for the club.

If he infuriates ManU he is welcomed at Liverpool. Let's make them real mad and regretful. Bring Greenwood to the Reds. Every offender needs forgiveness at some point.Forgive is devine God will bless us.
