The former Manchester United forward has impressed since moving to Ligue 1 in 2024.
Marseille have been told that Mason Greenwood "has to leave" this summer as he has grown bigger than the club. The former Manchester United forward has been a key player since making the move from Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old joined Marseille for a fee of £26.7 million in 2024. United also inserted a sell-on clause of around 50% in the deal, meaning that they will benefit from any sale.
This season, Greenwood has scored 25 times and provided 10 assists across all competitions for Marseille, improving on his tally of 22 goals in 2024/25. His performances come despite Marseille’s struggles in Ligue 1.
The team sit in sixth place in the table, four points adrift of the Champions League positions. The team have recorded just one win in their last five games, drawing 1-1 with Nice in their last outing.
Speaking on RMC’s Super Moscato show, former Marseille full-back Eric Di Meco said: "I wonder: does this guy want to stay in a project without Champions League football, with clubs coming in to watch him and offering him potentially very high salaries?
“I think the story will resolve itself naturally to the benefit of both parties. I believe it will all end with a transfer in which OM recoups its investment, the most valuable in the club.
“The guy is bigger than the club; he has to leave. It's the best thing for both sides."
Italian giants Juventus are among the clubs reportedly interested in the forward. This week, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Juve are ready to test Marseille’s resolve.
It’s added that the French club have already placed a minimum price tag of €43million (£37m) on Greenwood.
Should Marseille decide to sell, it will provide United with a financial boost through the sell-on clause. While it’s not clear whether the percentage is based on the full fee or the profit made, United will make some money from the deal, potentially as much as £18.5 million.
A lot may depend on Marseille’s position at the end of the season. They are back in action on Saturday when they travel to take on Nantes.
They then finish their campaign with a trip to Le Harve on Sunday, 10 May, and what could be a crucial home game against fifth-place Rennes on Sunday, 17 May.

since Marseille don't think he suits there style of play and they usually complain that he doesn't connect with his mates so a sale would profit both parties tho the lad and Man UTD would benefit more than Marseille
