Everton defender Mason Holgate is expected to undergo a medical this afternoon with Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old, who has been on loan at Southampton, has been a long-term target for manager Chris Wilder.
He has not enjoyed the best of times over the past 18 months and is eager to kickstart his career under Wilder at Bramall Lane.
Holgate has made just seven appearances for Russell Martin's side, featuring in just five Championship fixtures.
Stuttgart had also made an enquiry for the former England U21 international.
Everton have also had further enquiries for Ben Godfrey and rebuffed an approach from AC Milan this week.
Godfrey played against Fulham on Tuesday and Everton can ill afford any more departures as Sean Dyche's threadbare squad contends with a series of injuries.
