Chelsea news: Mason Mount's future at the Blues is up for debate amid a major contract dispute
Chelsea star Mason Mount has made an announcement on social media that he plans to delete his Twitter account. The attacking midfielder's future at his boyhood club is significantly up in the air with his contract set to expire in 2024 with no clear indication of a renewal being agreed upon.
Amid the real possibility of him leaving the Blues this summer, Mount took to Twitter to explain his decision with a message to supporters.
He wrote: "Over the years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you all on Twitter. Sadly, the platform is changing so I have decided to delete my account. You all can still connect with me on my other social media platforms here: http://masonmount.Komi.io Take care, Mason."
A number of clubs, aware a summer exit is possible, have shown an interest in Mount with Liverpool even outlining him as their top target, football.london understands. The 2022/23 campaign has been a disappointing one for Chelsea and Mount, with the latter struggling for consistent minutes.
In recent months, Mount has also been struggling with an abdominal injury which he only recovered from recently. The 24-year-old played just under 30 minutes across both legs of Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid.

I strongly agree that money was not wisely spent, no system or no plan.. but Chelsea still has good individual players who can shine under a good coach and become better players if they are all put together in right way.. however without champions league next season if you go into market again you will find similar players, finding upgrade to current players doesn’t come cheap!! So what I feel is a new manager should come and top 4 finish would be the biggest achievement next season with current players (with 1 or 2 additions especially striker) and then get into market with champions league so that you can get upgrades and compete for the title!!
Chelsea has good individual players you say but how many of these individuals can you consider good enough to compete with Man City for the title? It's a gigantic squad with very little supreme quality. These are the players I actually rate good enough to continue playing for Chelsea: Badiashile, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Reece James, Enzo Fernández, Mount (if he's willing to accept the terms offered to him only), and Kanté. The other senior players in the squad are not good enough. I'm not going to count Broja in this list yet because he has barely played, and I think he can do a lot better if we improve our midfield. None of the forwards are doing the job because they're way too selfish and don't look up for teammates in better positions to score. Sterling used to do that before at Man City but these days, his demeanor has changed and we've got to call a spade a spade. He should leave too. The jury is still out as far as the new signings like Mudryk, Madueke, Malo Gusto, Andrey Santos, DD Fofana and Nkunku are concerned, as well as the other fringe players like Chukwuemeka. But all the seniors who I haven't listed need to leave asap. No manager can help the rest of them because they have no motivation to win games for Chelsea because they're overpaid and feel like they have nothing left to prove, and live comfortably. A sensible club will move these players on. The plan should be to sign players with experience and leadership qualities to help nurture the younger players. Yes we'll have to spend big money but it's also an opportunity to sell a lot of players and generate money too. A lot of these players don't want to be here at Chelsea especially because the ownership wants to trim the wage bill.

There is a difference with Newcastle's approach and Chelsea's approach. You say that Chelsea have spent a lot of money on players which is very true. However, did you ever feel that at any point in time the ownership of the current regime as well as the previous regime (Abramovich and co) had a concrete plan when they were signing players in the last few years? If spending money alone is enough to guarantee titles, then Manchester United and Chelsea should have been the two teams dominating the PL week in and week out. This is clearly not the case because football doesn't work like that. You need to be shrewd with your signings and each player should be well thought out with a clear model of how to fit them into the manager's system. Chelsea is a club that repeatedly hires and fires managers. None of these managers can implement their system with a great deal of success because Chelsea always want to find the easy way to success by lavishly spending without any real thought about the profile of players. They're only keen to sign the flavour of the season players so as to prevent other clubs from getting these overhyped players. Maybe when the club stops signing players purely on the basis of hype, but actually signs them because their scouts did their homework, this club will finally see progress. There is a clear reason that I want a revamp. It's because a lot of these players in the squad lack the mentality or technicality to be top players at Chelsea. Please tell me how many midfielders at Chelsea can compete with the likes of de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Gündoğan, Rodri, etc on either a technical or mental standpoint?

A good manager will build on the existing squad with minor changes but as per you chelsea need a complete revamp again 🤷🏻♂️ just look at New Castle.. how many players did they buy?? Chelsea spent 600M already and still you expect more to come that too without champions league !!
The manager isn't the sole reason for the club's success or failure. Every single individual at the club has to make the difference. Chelsea is a club with no plan. They think that club football is just like FIFA career mode where you can buy any random players and do whatever the hell you want. We need professionals at Chelsea FC, not a bunch of amateurs who have the brain capacity of novice football fans still learning the sport.

This is untrue. We actually need a lot more players than you think. The midfield is incompetent. Kovačić, Loftus-Cheek, Gallagher and Zakaria are not good enough. We also need better wingers because our best wingers, that is, Pulisic, Ziyech and Sterling are likely to leave the club, while Madueke and Mudryk are young and raw. They are not ready to deliver week in, week out at a top level. We also need a new goalkeeper because any Chelsea fan who thinks that either Kepa or Édouard Mendy are upto the standards of Chelsea FC, they would be lying to themselves and they'd be more than content to dwell in the shadow of Manchester City. We need to raise the standards within this squad, and moreover we need leaders. John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba are spot on when they criticise the lack of leaders at Chelsea.

Mount replacement is not required, anyhow squad will be trimmed in the summer!! One and only important signing required is a ⭐️ striker, we need goals ⚽️

Yes that's what I'm saying. I would rather sign Maddison to replace Mount. And if it's from another league, maybe Enzo Le Fée from Lorient.

Letting Mount go for the reasons you mentioned is fair, but if João Félix is considered as his replacement, then we should keep hold of Mount and not sign Félix because we will only go backwards.

Chelsea please don’t give huge amounts to Mount, let him go if he want to 👉🏼 he has proved nothing yet but expects huge contract, look at Harry Kane he still earns very less wages after being so consistent across seasons.. If Mount has the desire to play for Chelsea he will stay or else 👋🏼 👋🏼

Not enougth money most of them waste it on cars houses and women. It's hideous that he thinks he is worth £300 000 a week. that's 15 mil a year for what!

Mount is a good player but he must focus on his game and improving it and not his paycheck. I remember he started complaining about his pay when Sterling joined Chelsea. I wish him luck in summer. I believe Mudryk will turn into a world class attacking midfielder next season.

if he goes and explode in other place, you'll be complaining again. look at KDB ,Salah.
Good point but Salah and KBD left Chelsea due to lack of opportunities not for money!! In this case Mount is likely leaving for money, he should have desire to play and prove his consistency first !!

Things will never be the same next season. Chelsea fall to rise again!. Mount, nobody will force you to play for Chelsea, the desire should be from your heart. You're free to make your decision. Great talents left still, Chelsea stand tall.
