Kylian Mbappe was present at a hearing at the French Federation on Thursday morning as he looks to get his red card against Nimes overturned.

The PSG forward was given his marching orders after reacting furiously to a late tackle by Teji Savanier during the 4-2 away win at the start of this month.

Mbappe's response to the tackle, a shove which left Savanier on the floor, brought a straight red card, with the Nimes midfielder also dismissed for the reckless lunge.

But with a three-game suspension hanging over his head for violent conduct, Mbappe has stepped up proceedings to overturn the decision, attending a meeting at the French Federation's headquarters in Paris on Thursday.

The youngster, who scored in the 3-2 Champions League defeat against Liverpool on Tuesday evening, looked downbeat as he got out of a car outside the headquarters before gingerly giving a thumbs up to the assembled media.

He sat out the 4-0 victory over Saint-Etienne last weekend with fellow star Neymar and is likely to also miss PSG's next two matches against Rennes and Reims unless the appeal is successful.

Speaking shortly after receiving the red card, Mbappe revealed he didn't regret his actions and would do it again if pushed.

'It's just an accumulation of things. It's football,' he said'. You have to learn when playing in this kind of club to let it go because it's like that every time so if I get upset every weekend, I'm going to take several reds so we have to be above it.

'No, I do not regret it. And if it was again, so I will do it again. And I will apologise to supporters and everyone but I cannot tolerate these kinds of gestures.'

Mbappe's goal was not enough to help his side to a result at Anfield on Tuesday as Roberto Firmino netted an injury-time winner.

Daniel Sturridge and James Milner gave Jurgen Klopp's men a 2-0 lead, before PSG battled back thanks to strikes from Thomas Meunier and Mbappe.

But substitute Firmino had the last word to leave the French champions with ground to make up in Group C.
