Kylian Mbappé has shown his support for his Brazilian teammate who was forced to leave the game against Lille (4-3) at Parc des Princes due to an ankle injury. While the victory over Lille was achieved through a magical free-kick by Lionel Messi, it was dampened by the news of Nuno Mendes and Neymar’s injuries. Neymar had to leave the pitch in tears on a stretcher during the second half.

The club has confirmed that Neymar has an ankle sprain without a fracture, according to a statement released after an MRI scan was carried out on Sunday. A new ligament assessment will be performed on Tuesday.

In the evening, Neymar received a message of support from Kylian Mbappé, who wrote, “Stay strong, the whole team is waiting for you very soon. Go on, my brother.” Mbappé, who scored a double in the game, posted the message on Instagram, and Neymar immediately shared it with a “Thank you.”

The length of Neymar’s absence from the game is unknown, but he is expected to miss the PSG-Marseille clash, which is currently his team’s closest competitor in the Ligue 1 table, on Sunday at the Vélodrome. There is also uncertainty regarding his participation in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Bayern Munich on March 8th, following PSG’s 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Parc des Princes. However, the player’s entourage is optimistic and hopes for a two-week absence that could allow him to play in the game.
