Memphis Depay has hinted at a move away from Lyon in January, after failing to sign for Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The Dutch forward made it no secret of his desire to join the Catalan giants, but that was only possible if they could offload Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United. However, that move didn't materialise as the Frenchman wanted to stay.

While Barcelona is likely to remain a priority for Depay, he revealed in an interview with Dutch newspaper AD - as reported by Sport -  that there could be a number of clubs in for him, with his contract up in June 2021.

'We will see,' said Depay. 'Soon we'll be in January. We'll have to wait and see how things are. It's not that I'm definitely going, but it's likely there will be clubs in for me soon.'

'I'm 26 and almost free, so you can expect clubs to be interested in me, no?' he added.

The former Manchester United player had his bags packed for Spain, but for now, he'll continue to focus on Lyon and international duty with Holland.

'Everything was done to be honest, some rules stopped it being finalised,' he explained.

'I was waiting for the green light, but I kept training. It's not like I had the phone in my shorts on the training pitch,' he added.
