Lionel Messi has written another page in LaLiga Santander's history books.
The Argentine notched up his 21st league assist of the season against Alaves on Sunday, which is a record in Spain's top flight.
Xavi Hernandez previously held the record with his total of 20 assists for Barcelona during the 2008/09 campaign.
To go with his 21 assists this season, Messi has also scored 25 goals in LaLiga Santander, almost certainly earning him the Pichichi Trophy.
Karim Benzema is four goals behind on 21 for the campaign but has just one game against Leganes on Sunday night to catch his rival.
