Lionel Messi's transfer saga has taken another shock turn after reports have suggested that the Argentine could end up staying at Barcelona for another two years before making a move to set up shop in the United States.
Messi, whose contract is up in the summer, came close to ending his iconic 19-year spell with the Catalan giants in the most recent transfer window after he told the club via burofax that he wanted to leave.
The 33-year-old ended up staying but continues to be linked with the exit at the Nou Camp – and he's not short of options on where he could go next.
A reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has been mooted while Paris Saint-Germain will look to reunite him with Neymar should he see out his contract.
However, according to Cadena SER, Messi is set to scrap plans of an exit and instead extend his stay with Barca through until 2023 before picking up sticks and moving to Miami to retire there.
The report claims Messi wants his children to go to high school in the States before going to university.
Cadena Ser also claim that the Argentine already has a home in Florida, where he bought a £7.25million flat in the luxurious Porsche Design Tower a year and a half ago.
The high-rise building, that boasts ocean-front living and a separate elevator for your car, was opened in 2014 and is just a 25-minute drive from the Inter Miami Stadium.
The report would support claims that Messi is ready to see out his career with David Beckham's Inter Miami, with the Argentine recently admitting that a move to the USA is something that interests him.
In a recent interview, Messi did reveal that he would be interested in a move to the USA at some point in his career.
'I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there.... but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity.
'I'm not thinking too far ahead in the short term and just want to see how the season finishes.'

among the issue with this Barcelona current team is that we have a lot of players are not delivering enough AS BARCELONA PLAYERS. remember this is FCB and in FCB all our players should be of high quality on the pitch... unfortunately we don't see that. Players like Coutinho and Griezmann that the club have spent lots on are not delivering anything close to what is expected from them... not they alone... many other players as well.. Trincao for instance. This is FCB and our players should be giving much more than what they do.... yeah koeman too pick a blame... but most of our players as well over and over again are not playing to FCB quality. Don't be delusioned with smaller clubs. We are FCB and we prove whom we are to other big club opponents. i sometimes thought, if all our players were contributing enough as pedri, Fati, De jong and dembélé we really could have something to show. We need an FCB president that would offload our very own hyped players and get in new boys that would play to the club expectation. Our back 4 instance would not be able to hold 90mins against a super club like Bayern. We need a president that would remind us that this is FCB! FORCA BARCA

Messi :- "I don't know where I'll be next year," "Although I can negotiate with clubs from January 1, I won't do it until the end of the season." What makes people think he is staying till 2023??

Barcelona solutions: * We must change every player at the defence: Let's face it, even Dest has not been giving that much as of late. so many times we have seen the opposition dribble past him at the channel there. his attack too is obvious... he always tries to dribble past the opposing defender at the channel and if he is unsuccessful the counter cost us. I am not saying Araujo, Oscar and Dest are not good... they are very good. They could become world class in the future yeah.. but for now they are not at FCB level. Guys common this is FCB the club that wins the treble. The club that can win the la liga title with a single loss 2. offload players not delivering as to their worth: Typical Coutinho and Griezmann 3. We must get player that they deliver quality enough as expected of them: we are FCB, we need players like Neymar.... not clowns! I always imagined if all players played like pedri, Fati, de jong and dembélé we would have something to show for 4. Sack koeman and bring in a better coach. Perhaps Tuchel our whomever but I just know that Koeman is not the one to bring Barca to its glorious days. even as a coach handling a club at transition... they are some games our results are inexcusable! but all things equal I know we would someday bounce back strong as we were FORCA BARCA 🔥 !
