Michy Batshuayi's omission from Belgium's latest squad pushes him closer to the Chelsea exit door

Michy Batshuayi took an incredible photo from inside a helicopter just as the Chelsea striker was told he would not be picked for the Belgian national team next month.

The 26-year-old captioned the post with a waving hand emoji, which could see him move closer to the Stamford Bridge exit door to increase his chances of an international recall.

It was announced on Tuesday that Batshuayi will not be in Roberto Martinez's 29-man squad for the Red Devils' upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark in September.

Uncapped duo Leandro Trossard and Landry Dimata, who play for Brighton and Anderlecht respectively, were picked instead of the Chelsea man.

Batshuayi's chances of starting for Chelsea have been significantly depleted following the arrivals of attacking duo Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer for expensive deals.

Chelsea are also close to completing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz, meaning Batshuayi has even more competition at Stamford Bridge next season.

Furthermore, Blues boss Frank Lampard had already placed Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud ahead of the Belgian forward in the centre-forward pecking order in west London.

The Belgian made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season, scoring six goals.

With all the attacking talent now available at Chelsea, the Belgian has been strongly linked with a summer transfer in Europe.

Champions League quarter-finalists Atalanta are reportedly keen on the 26-year-old's services next season, while Leeds United have also expressed an interest in Batshuayi.

Before spending the whole of last season with Lampard's squad, the striker had loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Premier League side Crystal Palace.

He was in a rich vein of form at Selhurst Park, scoring five goals in 11 matches for the Eagles during the second-half of the 2018-29 Premier League campaign.
