Milan’s Mike Maignan not interested in Chelsea move

AC Milan goalkeeper and France international Mike Maignan (27) is showing no interest at the prospect of joining Chelsea, according to a report from Foot Mercato. L’Équipe broke the news last Friday that the spendthrift Blues had initiated contact with Milan over the possibility of bringing the PSG youth product to the West London side.

The Serie A side reportedly deem Maignan a untransferable asset. Maignan, now France’s No. 1 keeper following Hugo Lloris’ international retirement, has proven to be a bargain for the Rossoneri, notably helping them win the Serie A title last year.

Maignan’s stock has steadily risen, and Chelsea, who are in the market for a proven goalkeeper, have taken notice. The Blues have reportedly shortlisted the goalkeepers of both Milan clubs, with Inter’s André Onana (27) being considered as well. As for Maignan, Foot Mercato repors that Chelsea have submitted a first offer to AC Milan, who have rebuffed it. The Mauricio Pochettino-led side may need to change their policy as the former Lille man is currently not entertaining the prospect of joining the Blues. The outlet adds that the goalkeeper, who is currently on international duty with Les Bleus, simply does not want to sign for Chelsea, who will play no European competition next season.

Maignan is expected to stand between the France sticks when Les Bleus face Gibraltar on Friday and Greece on Monday for their Euro 2024 qualifiers.
