AC Milan are still interested in the idea of signing midfielder Florentino Luis from Benfica this summer but face competition from Spain, a report claims.
It was revealed in January that contacts are underway with the Portuguese side for Florentino, with Milan wanting to sign him on the basis of an 18-month loan with the right to buy.
The transfer expert Vito Angele said that the Rossoneri have in fact made a bid: a loan with option to buy at €40m, but Benfica used the €120m release clause to demand at least €60m and no deal was done.
However, according to an report from Portuguese outlet Record (via MilanLive), Milan are ready to go back in for the talented 20-year-old once the window reopens.
The Diavolo have tried to bring the player to Italy in the last two windows without success and could even insert Lucas Paqueta into the deal to try lower the cash sum.
However, Milan will have to beat the competition of two Spanish clubs as there is also Real Betis and Sevilla in the running.
