AC Milan 'are poised to offer Mauricio Pochettino a £300million summer transfer budget' in order to lure him from Tottenham.
The Italian club's chief executive Ivan Gazidis, formerly of Spurs' north London rivals Arsenal, has been tasked with rejuvenating the under-achieving club and winning silverware again.
Reports in Italy over the weekend said that Milan had put Pochettino 'at the top of their shortlist' as they prepare to replace incumbent manager Gennaro Gattuso.
And, according to the Daily Mirror, Gazidis is prepared to back the Argentine in the transfer market in a bid to try and end the dominance of Juventus in Serie A.
Gattuso can still secure direct entry into next season's Champions League, with Milan currently in fourth position level on point with Atalanta and one point ahead of Roma.
However, they are a staggering 32 points behind champions-elect Juventus, who are poised to win an eighth consecutive Scudetto since Milan's last triumph in 2011.
Gattuso could still win some silverware this season in the form of the Coppa Italia, where they enter the home second leg of their semi-final with Lazio with scores tied at 0-0.
But even securing that trophy plus fourth place may not save his job at the San Siro in the summer.
Pochettino has attracted interest from both Real Madrid and Manchester United this season, but Tottenham have managed to keep hold of their man as they move into their £1billion new stadium.
Chairman Daniel Levy certainly won't countenance the departure of Pochettino anytime soon following his excellent work in elevating Spurs into regular top four finishers in the Premier League.

Pochettino >>> ACMilan , Mourinho >>> Inter Milan will surely make a lot of sense and possibly remove farmers league tag from Serie A , Ivan Gazidis formerly of Arsenal is making a meaningful improvement at AC Milan as they push for top 4 finish this season , after many years of absence in UCL .

They have just finished their stadium, he has a contract until 2023 and is getting £8.5mln a year. His team is probably going to play in the CL and he’s got the full control to make his own decisions in tottenham. I just cannot see a reason for him to come to us, especially this summer. Now that everyone knows we are looking for a manager we are going to see rumours for every single one which is remotely possible. The chance of Pochettino coming to us is about 1%.

Poch isn't going anywhere. Who in their right minds would leave Spurs now just after new stadium finally opens? They've got amazing training facilities and now the stadium. Even if they didn't give him another penny for 5yrs I think he'd stay. Weather and food might be better in Italy and Spain but that's about it. I'm an Arsenal fan btw. I think he's there for a long time unless they let him go. He might use other clubs as a bargaining chip but i don't see him leaving.
