Milner outlines key difference between Liverpool and Man City

James Milner has opened up on why he believes the Manchester City team and Liverpool teams he has played in are different.

Milner won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup during his five-year spell with City, and was involved in some of the biggest moments in the club's history.

At Liverpool, the Leeds-born utility man has been part of the club's rise over the last few years, helping them to Champions League glory last season, and has played a key role in his side being on brink of winning the Premier League this season.

And Milner, speaking alongside Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville on Sky's The Football Show, has revealed why he believes both sides are different.

“Yeah I think both teams had so much quality,” he said. “The Liverpool team is a lot different to the Man City team in how we played.

“As a team we have developed really over the last few years at Liverpool as when the manager came in we were inconsistent.

“There was amazing performances in there with some very poor ones, but gradually over time that has got better and better.

“We have that identity and we are very intense off the ball. We play a way really where if one person doesn't do their job then we are in trouble. I think that is evident in how we play.”

Before adding on City : “In terms of the Man City team, we had a lot of quality and attacked in different ways to what we do in a Liverpool side.

“So I think that is probably down to the managers and the players again. But I have been very fortunate to play in both teams with top players.”
