Mo Salah and Liverpool team-mates ready to roll as they train at Melwood

Top of the Premier League after the opening round of fixtures, Liverpool will be hoping to get on a roll with early season momentum.

Before that, Mo Salah and his team mates were quite literally on a roll in training on Wednesday, as they performed exercises using foam rollers.

The rollers allow for self-massage, releasing muscle tightness and helping the body recover to full functionality after exercise.

Having played on Sunday, preparations are now beginning in earnest for next Monday night, when the Reds travel to Crystal Palace.

The entire first team squad was given their own roller, as well as a foam mat, to perform their own relaxation exercises on an indoor AstroTurf pitch at Melwood

Afterwards, more conventional training resumed with passing and dribbling drills. Salah, having been the picture of concentration with the roller, looked pleased to be on the ball again, sharing a joke with James Milner and Daniel Sturridge.

The session was overseen by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who sat on an exercise bike as he watched his players stretch and train.

Klopp will be contemplating whether to rotate his squad for the Palace game, and perhaps give a debut to £40million summer signing Fabinho.

However the temptation to stick with the same XI which so effectively dismantled West Ham - 4-0 at Anfield - will also be strong.
