Mobile coronavirus testing unit in operation outside Old Trafford

A mobile coronavirus testing unit has been set up outside Old Trafford with army personnel leading the operations.

The unit is part of a project led by the Department of Health and Social Care and is one of many to have been deployed across the country in response to local demands.

The hub has been testing individuals for Covid-19 after being set up earlier this week.

United have been working hard to help the city of Manchester during the coronavirus lockdown.

The club pledged to deliver 60,000 meals to NHS carers and front-line staff at the end of April as part of a joint initiative with the Manchester United Foundation.

The Foundation also donated an extra £300,000 to its local partner schools while striker Marcus Rashford has helped to raise £20million for children who relied on free school meals to make sure they do not go without.

The club have also paid tribute to the health service by lighting up Old Trafford to spell out NHS.

Medical equipment has also been donated to local hospitals and staff have been encouraged to volunteer their services in the local community.

They have also given over 3,500 Manchester United gifts for NHS staff, including the unsung heroes of the hospital cleaning and backroom staff.

There have been food and drink donations and free car parking for NHS staff staying at the adjacent Hotel Football which is owned by Gary Neville and the Class of '92.
