Mohamed Salah could return to Liverpool THIS WEEK as he prepares for further Covid tests

Mo Salah could return to Liverpool on Thursday providing his latest coronavirus test is negative, according Egyptian officials.

The Reds forward has been in self isolation in his native Egypt after testing positive for the virus on Friday, ahead of his country's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo.

The Liverpool star had been training with his national team after reportedly attending his brother's wedding in Cairo last Monday.

The 28-year-old has been quarantined in his hotel in El-Gouna ahead of his next coronavirus test on Thursday.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health’s head of the COVID-19 committee, Hossam Hosny, believes the Liverpool star will test negative and return to his club.

'Salah is currently in El-Gouna to complete his quarantine and he will conduct another PCR test on Thursday, and I expect that his result will be negative because until now, the player hasn't shown any symptoms,' he said.

'Like any Egyptian citizen, Salah underwent all needed medical scans and tests that showed he is not suffering from any symptoms and he is now following medical protocol with self-isolation.

'Liverpool are communicating with us to check on Salah, and their medical staff have agreed that he will travel to El-Gouna.

'And Salah can return to England if his test result on Thursday is negative.'

Salah's positive test will rule him out of Egypt's return trip to Togo on Tuesday, with Covid protocols meaning he is also likely to miss Liverpool's Premier League clash with table topping Leicester on Sunday.
