Mohamed Salah's ideal replacement at Liverpool would be Newcastle ace Anthony Gordon, according to Reds icon Didi Hamann.
One of Liverpool's modern talismanic figures, Salah, could end his seven-year stint on Merseyside next summer when his contract expires.
The task at hand now for Liverpool and their new boss, Arne Slot, is to find someone who can fill the Egyptian's goal-scoring boots. There have been some big names linked to the moves, including Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but Hamann thinks he has the answer.
Newcastle's Gordon didn't get much of a sniff with England at Euro 2024, however, he is the player Hamann believes could become the next Salah - should the Reds be willing to splash the cash on him.
The Englishman was heavily linked with a Liverpool move as Newcastle struggled to meet the Premier League's profit and sustainability rule deadline at the end of June, needing sales to balance their books.
With the funds gathered elsewhere, it became apparent that the club had no imminent desire to sell their star winger Gordon. Having only signed from Liverpool's rival Everton last January for £45million, a price tag of anywhere between £80-100million has been slapped on him.
The deal has since gone a tad stale because of this. However, Gordon was allegedly keen on a move and discussed possibly joining Liverpool with his England teammates.
Hamann believes that Gordon should be signed, should his former club be looking at ensuring they have a Salah replacement under wraps already. He spoke to Top Offshore Casinos about Gordon, saying: "No one really knew what to expect when Liverpool signed Mohamed Salah, on the other hand, we’ve seen Anthony Gordon have a huge impact in the Premier League.
"He did so at Everton even when they were struggling and after a tough start at Newcastle he has battled through and he's one of their best players now.
"I read somewhere that Liverpool is his boyhood club and I think it would be a brilliant signing, it also looks like Newcastle might need to sell some players this summer too.
"So Gordon would be great. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been mentioned from Napoli who said he wants to leave the club. But then obviously it depends on what Salah does.
"It's been said for the last few years that it's his last season and that he's going to go in the summer. So obviously we need to find out and see what's happening but I think Gordon would be a brilliant signing because obviously going forward, if you've got pace, it just changes games."
"He had a brilliant season for Newcastle and we need somebody who steps up and scores these goals in important games because if you look at the last three years or so with Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, they have all done well but you could only really rely on Salah when the chips were down. Potentially Gordon could do that role."

Sorry I plead to disagree. Mohammed Kudus is a much better option than Gordon. Besides he plays best in the RW where Mo Salah plays & where the Reds lack options currently. Good to note that he's also more flexible & capable of playing in either wing or centrally. Gordon is a LW and just direct. L'pool will do well for themselves to sell Mo this summer if a gd offer shows up & splash part of the proceeds to buy Kudus. The Mo party has been marvellous but it's got to end someday.
kudus is also being linked to Saudi club
