The latest on Chelsea's pursuit of Moises Caicedo as the Blues and Brighton continue to negotiate over the sale of the Ecuador international who wants to move to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea and Brighton have held positive talks in recent days over the possible sale of Moises Caicedo, football.london understands.

The 21-year-old midfielder has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge after verbally agreeing on personal terms earlier in the transfer window. While nothing is signed on that front, sources have confirmed Caicedo's head will not be turned despite interest from elsewhere, including Manchester United.

No deal has been agreed yet between Chelsea and Brighton but positive talks have occurred in recent days. Chelsea did begin to grow rather frustrated with how negotiations were going but are now believed to be a little bit more positive about the situation, football.london understands.

"A very historic team and I can't say no because it's a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful."

Mauricio Pochettino, who will take charge of his first game this week as Chelsea jet off to America for their pre-season tour, wants the midfielder with the squad as soon as possible. While a deal is not done yet, this certainly feels like a step in the right direction for Chelsea and Caicedo.

Meanwhile, there has been plenty of business in terms of outgoings already completed at Stamford Bridge. Departures have already been confirmed for Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, N'Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, Baba Rahman and David Datro Fofana (loan).

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku and Hakim Ziyech are also expected to depart in the coming weeks. Chelsea will listen to offers for both Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah but thus far there is nothing advanced in terms of either player departing.
