Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has revealed he has suffered a new injury setback and will be out for a 'few games'.

The 25-year-old has been hampered with injuries since joining the Red Devils from Chelsea for Β£60million last year, making just 14 league appearances last term.

He regained fitness towards the back end of the campaign and started in the community shield defeat by Manchester City as well as both of United's opening Premier League games against Fulham and Brighton this month.

However, during Saturday's 2-1 defeat against the latter Mount was forced off at half-time, with Joshua Zirkzee replacing him.

The former Chelsea star took to social to reveal his latest setback as he vowed to 'do everything possible' to return to action.

'During the last game I picked up a minor muscle issue,' Mount said in his statement.

'I've had it checked and it looks like I'll be out for a few games. Leading up to and during pre-season, I worked hard to get my fitness back to where it needs to be and I felt re-energised, sharp and ready.

'I wanted you to hear it directly from me how frustrated I am, as I expect you are too. I will do everything possible to be back in the best shape and help the team.'
