Jose Mourinho has taken aim at Manchester United once again after claiming Erik ten Hag and his other Old Trafford successors are 'no longer expected to lift trophies'.
Serial winner Mourinho was the last manager to win silverware at United, securing three trophies – the Community Shield, the League Cup and the Europa League – during the 2016-17 campaign.
However, the 59-year-old was axed by the Red Devils in December 2018 after two-and-a-half years at the helm following what was then the club's worst start to a top-flight season since 1990.
The Special One has often criticised United since his departure and pointed out how far they've fallen since the glory years of Sir Alex Ferguson's legendary tenure as manager.
And ahead of what will be his fifth European final on Thursday, where his Roma side take on Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League showpiece in Albania, Mourinho was asked if critics had been too quick to write him and 62-year-old Carlo Ancelotti off too quickly.
Mourinho couldn't resist taking a jab at the Red Devils, saying: 'I believe that the problem with Carlo Ancelotti was that when you coach Everton you are not about to win the Champions League.
'And with me, you know, people they saw me taking up jobs where they thought that I could win trophies but they were not jobs where we were expected to lift trophies.
'But when you have such a winning career on a cyclical basis so to speak, you can expect that, people can say that. Personally I'm not worried about this [being replaced by younger coaches]. I do not think and focus on the generations, I focus on quality.'
He continued: 'It's a matter of quality, motivation, passion. Without passion you are finished. Without pressure in the build-up to big games you are finished. I know very well myself, I know very well Carlito as well, but there are more examples that we could make.
'But we are the ones who will call it when we want to stop, and I'm afraid people will have to wait a long time before I say that it's over!'
His comments come a week after he aimed another dig at United, saying they have won silverware since he secured the three titles in 2017.
When asked about his relationship with Roma attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the pair worked together at the Premier League giants, he told Sky Sports last week: 'We won together three titles at Man United, unfortunately the last three titles of Man United.
'I say unfortunately because I like the club very, very much and I wish the club the best.
'We won three titles together so everything went well, in the second season was a little bit different.'

United use to mock City for spending carelessly, now United has become that,United used to mock Liverpool for not having League title for prolong 30 years, now United winning League title ain't visible for a very very long time . . . . . United used to mock Arsenal for always vying for top 4 spot but today United couldn't even finish in top 4 this season. . . . . . . And all this downfall goes to" GlazerFamily" who took over after Sir Alex retirement, other club has Sporting director, but United under American owner appointed and opted for Financier Mr Ed Woodward who knows nothing about football but was good in bringing money . . . . Sadly Ed made multiple bluder like buying nonsense players at a ridiculous price and giving salary cap that is way over paid eg"Sanchez,Pogba,Bruno" and list goes on,and talking about 80 mil fridge will be a sin and worth praised to Leicester counter part who sold such useless fridge for 80 mil

Won 3 trophies in his first season at united... finished second to man city in his second season. The 3rd season it didn't work out. Man united is a useless club and I'm not saying this cuz I'm a rival fan, I'm saying this as a guy that watched them with the league in '07, '08, and '09. Every player was honoured to be called up by Fergie, they were the best. The problem is they still think this is 08. Everything is wrong from the owners to the board, to the players to even the fans. They're all living in the past.

They sacked him for lifting 3 trophies, now they only want a cot who can take them back to top 4.[Crylaugh] Some times in life, some people don’t know what they have until they lose it. The special one always on point.💪🏼

Jose is 100 per cent right. Man U is just like Aston Villa or Brentford. It is just that they are overrated. Which player can one admire at Man U? None!
