Jose Mourinho has joked he would be prepared to coach a team near the bottom of the table in England when he leaves Fenerbahce to avoid UEFA competitions.
The Fenerbahce boss took the headlines on Thursday night when his Fenerbahce side faced his old club Manchester United.
Fenerbahce earned a 1-1 draw on the night, but attention was focused on Mourinho after he was sent to the stands.
Mourinho led Fenerbahce's appeals for a second half penalty, which were waved away by referee Clement Turpin.
The French official then sent Mourinho to the stands for his protests against the decision.
When asked whether he considered his sending off to be unexpected, Mourinho quipped that he would have to avoid coaching teams in European competitions.
'I think the best thing I have to do is when I leave Fenerbahce, I go to a club that does not play UEFA competitions.
'If any club in England from the bottom of the table needs a coach in two years, I am ready to go.
'I don’t want to say anything more about it.
'I want to speak about the game, we played absolutely fantastic against a team, in theory, from a superior level.'
Mourinho then appeared to suggest his red card as Roma boss in the 2023 Conference League final had been a contributing factor.
'If I appeal, I will get six months' ban, so there is nothing to do,' Mourinho added.
'Since Sevilla-Roma final, there is nothing to do. It is what it is.
'That's why I say if the future is maybe better without European competitions, so I don't get upset. It is what it is.'
Several Fenerbahce substitutes had joined Mourinho in demanding a penalty in the second half.
The Turkish side reacted with anger after seeing their appeals waved away by Turpin after Bright Osayi-Samuel went down under a challenge by Manuel Ugarte, although the replays showed the official made the correct decision.
Asked by TNT Sports post-match about the incident, Mourinho took aim at the official.
'I don't want to speak about it,' the 61-year-old began.
'He told me something incredible. He told me at the same time he could see the action in the box and my behaviour on the touchline.
'I congratulate him because he's absolutely incredible. His peripheral vision during the game, 100mph he had one eye on the penalty situation and one eye on the bench and on my behaviour.
'That's the explanation he's given me. That's why he's one of the best referees in the world.'

Bottom EPL team, you might find Man UTD there
that's exactly what he was meaning n it's true in two years if the structure for Man unit remained the same, it will happen. Jose sees things which others can't see. I remember when he was requesting to send Martial and Rashford on loan so that they can improve and to sell Pogba because he's a bad virus so they can bring Bruno Fernandez the whole United board and Journalist were against him.
