Mourinho to renew interest in Perisic and Rebic

Jose Mourinho is ready to renew his interest in Croatian stars Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic in a clear message to Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The Manchester United boss is still fuming over the club’s summer transfer business – their failure to bring in his main targets.

In addition to a commanding central defender with names like Leicester’s Harry Maguire and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld on his wanted list, Mourinho also expressed his desire for a goalscoring wide player.

Inter Milan’s Perisic and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rebic who were in action against England on Friday night were both considered but the United bean counters refused in both cases to pay the asking price.

Inter Milan asked for £48million and United annoyed Mourinho by refusing to go above £45million while again to the manager’s disdain the club haggled over a £40million fee for Rebic.

He was also niggled by the failure to bring in Lazio’s Serb international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who he watched again in midweek playing for Serbia.

But that was more understandable because Lazio wouldn’t budge from an over inflated £100million value.

Mourinho believes that with either Perisic or Rebic in the side the supply line for main striker Romelu Lukaku would have been improved.

It’s why he will demand that Woodward makes a serious attempt to land one of them either in the January transfer window or next summer.
