Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will work as a pundit for Kremlin-backed broadcaster Russia Today during this summer's World Cup.

Mourinho will be in Moscow during the tournament and spend part of his time in the Russia Today studios offering insight and analysis.

Russia Today, whose English-language news service is based in Westminster, has been accused of being a mouthpiece for Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.

But they have pulled off something of a coup by signing up Mourinho as part of their punditry team during the tournament, which gets underway in Moscow on June 14.

Mourinho said: 'I am very happy to join the team at RT. I am looking forward to attending the World Cup in Russia this summer and sharing my insights into the games.'

The broadcaster has produced a slick promotional video showing Mourinho delivering a 'team talk' to a group of camera operators and production staff.

Russia Today have also signed up former United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel to provide insight during the tournament.

'We continue to put together the RT dream team. Now we have a coach,' said Russia Today's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan.

Mourinho's punditry role for the World Cup comes after the United boss slammed Old Trafford legends Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes, now working as TV pundits, for their criticism of Paul Pogba this season.
