Shkodran Mustafi’s father warns Arsenal must ask for “market-driven transfer fees” after reportedly demanding €27m from Roma and Monaco.
The Giallorossi are still looking for a centre-back after Kostas Manolas moved to Napoli this summer.
Several options were approached and then let go, while now Mustafi is on their radar.
“Shkodran had a great time with Arsenal. We still have a contract for two years and can imagine to stay in London,” said his father and agent Kujtim Mustafi.
“However, the best for both sides is probably to work on a transfer. But for that it also needs market-driven transfer-fees.”
According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma and Monaco had been interested, but were put off by the €27m asking price.
The 27-year-old German international already has Sere A experience at Sampdoria from January 2012 to August 2014.
He was sold to Arsenal for a massive €41m by Valencia in 2016.

My humble opinion is that we retain him. He can be used as a sub and less important matches to allow first team players to rest.

I don’t hate Mustafi. He had a very good period when he joined and I hoped he’d continue but it fell apart. He gets a lot of hate from our fans me included. If he isn’t in Emery’s plans then I really hope he leaves. I think he could do a very good job at a team that a suits his defending style. Some will probably say he can’t defend but at Arsenal he was exposed far too often for a defender that doesn’t read the game very well. Throw him into a better organised team defensively and I think he’d be a great signing.
On point bro.

Are you suggesting he mustafi forgotten it on purpose?

Mustafi gives up on plays and soft touches and expects the ref to give fouls and that leads directly to a goal cuz he stopped playing

Arsenal’s system highlights all of Mustafi’s flaws.

Mustafi already went to Serie A with Sampdoria. He was alright but nothing too special.

Mustafi was bought to be a long-term solution for 35 million, Luiz was bought to be a stop-gap solution for 8 million because of Koscielny leaving, Holding recovering from a big injury and Saliba arriving only next season. That's the difference, plus Luiz is the the better player.

Completely different situations. Mustafi and Elneny are effectively 5th choice currently at their respective positions, they're not getting any game this season.

Isn't this the second public statement regarding Mustafi? It was previously reported that Emery told him he could leave. This is the first we've heard about Elneny though.

If Emery said it after mustafi scored the winning goal in a champions league final, I might question his judgment.

Mustafi's problems aren't because of our high line though. He's just overall atrocious at defending and makes stupid mistakes in the box regularly (like not marking the other player).

Mustafi was also in and around the German World Cup-winning squad at the time, so either both Wenger and Löw know less about football than you or maybe he's under-performed.

The new Arsenal is only a year old, give it time. We might have another Mustafi on his way but just don’t know it yet

Emery implying they are antagonists at Arsenal. Harsh, but true at this point, especially considering the Mustafi hate has gotten almost out of control.

Compare the salaries and Bale actually acting hostile towards the club and you'll see it's harsher to say it to Mustafi and Elneny.

because they can do a job in a system that fits them. Elneny is a mid table player and Mustafi cannot under any circumstances play in a high line or man marking system.

I think the important point here is not necessarily that good or proven, but they are still preferable to Mustafi.
