Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has added to speculation linking him to Spurs by remarking that his departure could be a positive for the Dutch club.
Slot has emerged as a leading candidate to take the hot seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks, with the club having been without a permanent manager since Antonio Conte's departure in March.
The 44-year-old recently led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title with the club having suffered just one defeat all season, with former Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin van Persie serving as part of his backroom staff.
Feyenoord's triumph also brought an end to Ajax's streak of three consecutive titles in the Dutch top flight.
In an interview with ESPN, Slot explained that he wants to resolve questions surrounding his future quickly for the benefit of both himself and the club, adding that he had turned down an approach to takeover at Elland Road following Jesse Marsch's sacking as Leeds boss.
'Everyone needs clarity quickly. I cancelled Leeds in the winter and now I'm staying or leaving.'
'My departure can also be good for the club, but if there is no dream club then I will stay. In football it is commonplace that you talk to clubs. I am not saying that I have done it now, but it is not forbidden that I talk to other clubs.'
Slot's comments come after Feyenoord chief Dennis te Kloese told ESPN Netherlands' morning show 'Goedemorgen Eredivisie' that the club are yet to receive an approach from Spurs for their highly-rated coach.
'No, there has been no request from Tottenham' Te Kloese said.
'In February, there was concrete interest from Leeds United, but we and Arne said, 'no' to that. Arne did not want to go to Leeds and I think that was a very good decision.
'We went a long way with Arne, broke (renegotiated) his contract last year. We are more than satisfied with him and if there is interest in him, we will hear about it.
'He [Slot] has a contract for two more years and this summer there is no release-clause in his contract, so we can say no if we want.
'We have quite a good story here as well. Champions League next year, a lot of new players were signed last summer and they proved really good players in this team and their contracts also run for quite some years to come.'
