Sky Italia says Napoli are in advanced talks with Gomes' camp about contract terms with the view to him moving to Italy in June.
Napoli sports chief Giovanni Manna is hoping to strike terms with Gomes in the coming days, knowing they face competition from across Europe.
Once an agreement is reached, Manna will open negotiations with Wolves over a fee for the midfielder. Napoli are happy to wait until the summer before welcoming the Brazil international.
Gomes' deal with Wolves runs to 2030.
