Napoli's €50m Icardi bid rejected as Inter want €80m to pay for Lukaku (TMW)

According to TMW, Napoli made a €50m offer for Juventus target Mauro Icardi, but Inter have decided they’ll sell only for €80m to pay for Romelu Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri have made it clear Icardi is not in their plans and left him out of their pre-season tour of Asia.

It was assumed by many that this treatment would significantly reduce Icardi’s value on the transfer market from €110m down to approximately €60-70m.

With this in mind, Napoli made their first formal bid to Inter for the striker at €50m, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

However, the same report states Inter rejected it outright and won’t even sit down to negotiations unless their €80m asking price is met.

Napoli were seemingly surprised, hoping for preferential treatment from Inter compared to arch-rivals Juventus, who were hoping to wait it out for just €40m in late August.

This version of events suggests Inter have decided not to sell Icardi for less than his market value and to hope his €80m fee can be used to purchase replacement Lukaku from Manchester United.
